In Memoriam

Caroline Still Wiren

Dear Friends:

Since this morning, emails have been coming in expressing sympathy for the sudden and tragic passing of our dear Coach, Caroline.  No words of mine can express how horrible and sad I feel about this tragedy..  I appreciate your emails and with your permission, will add them to this page, on a regular basis.

Thanks and God Bless You.

                                                                           Most Sincerely,

Bill (webmaster for the sundolls sites), 7:17 pm Thursday 17th May 2007.

I just wanted to express my deepest condolences to the Sun Dolls and anyone associated with Caroline. Our daughter has been an honorary Sun Doll for the past several years and Caroline graciously took her and her friends under her wing during their time at the games. We last saw Caroline at this year's USF auction, and she was as beautiful as always and cheering us on to win a spot again this year for our daughter. She will be incredibly missed by so many people. Her impact on the USF community at large is immeasurable.

We wish you all peace as you deal with this tragic loss. Caroline's spirit is one that will always shine brightly.

Sincerely,
Brian and Cynthia Keenan

I share your shock and sadness at the death of Caroline Wiren. While a professor in the Department of Philosophy, I knew Caroline as the sales representative for Houghton Mifflin Publishing Company. She was, as you and so many others know, wonderful and truly incandescent. In philosophy, we often read about death and are sometimes urged to see it as part of life, but in this case, philosophy does no good. Caroline died far too young and has left a void that no one else can fill.

I cannot imagine how Caroline's husband and family are able to cope with her death, but please know that I wish them, you, and the Sundolls the strength to get through this very difficult time. If the funeral is open to the public, I hope that you will let me know. I would like to attend. Further, if you are aware of any charity, foundation or organization that Caroline favored, please let me know that as well. Making a contribution in her name is all that I can do.

With deep regrets,

Bruce Silver, professor emeritus

I first heard of Caroline's passing this afternoon as I heard a prayer request go out on the radio station I listen to for her family. As a mom, my heart ached for this anonymous (at that time) mother who passed, and her husband and new baby. Only now do I realize the role Caroline has played in so many people's lives and the impact she's had in her community wherever she's been.

I cannot imagine the grief the family feels in a time that should be nothing but pure joy. My prayers are with Nyle and his new son, as well as the rest of the family, which I know includes the SunDolls and the Storm. May God show Himself as the Prince of Peace in this tragic time, surrounding Nyle and family with His enduring love and understanding.

Sincerely,
Kristina "Kris" Evans

Our family is so devastated by the loss of Caroline. Our daughter was a rookie SunDoll this past season and we were fortunate to get to know Caroline as my husband became the unofficial team photographer. She was an unbelievably dedicated coach and she taught the girls so many incredible life lessons. She set high expectations for the team and for herself. She attended every game and event; she was always there for the team. I am so grateful for the time our daughter spent in the company of such a talented and committed coach. Caroline’s family is in our prayers and we weep with them. Caroline’s memory will shine brightly through the SunDolls.
Thank you Caroline for your enthusiasm, dedication and wonderful heart. You will be forever missed.
